Your First Visit
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST VISIT
We look forward to meeting you at your complimentary consultation! Once you are checked in, one of our orthodontic assistants will acquire a series of diagnostic orthodontic records, which consists of a series of photos, x-rays and a digital scan of your mouth using our 3D scanning software to evaluate the position of your teeth and bite. Followed by a thorough exam by Dr. Courtney, explaining her findings, reviewing your scans and dental history to devise a custom treatment plan based on your specific treatment goals and preferences. This consultation is meant to be easy, comfortable and informative. Dr. Courtney will answer all of your questions and clearly explain each treatment option, including pros and cons, offering her expert opinion and honest guidance.
During the initial examination for each patient, Dr. Courtney will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment. We encourage you to ask questions as well:
- What type of orthodontic appliance would be best for your lifestyle?
- Do you have a condition that orthodontics can address?
- Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?
- What orthodontic appliances or treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
- Do any teeth need to be removed?
- How long will treatment take?
- How much will it cost?
- What are my payment options?
At this first appointment we will verify your insurance benefits and provide you with an insurance estimate and treatment quote. We can provide you with several quotes for different treatment options in order to help you make a decision if needed. Once you’ve decided on a course of treatment that fits your lifestyle, our treatment coordinator will review financing options that maximize any dental benefits, and help to design a payment plan that fits your budget.
PATIENT FORMS
As soon as you schedule your complimentary consultation, our administrative team will send you an email that will include a link to fill our our new patient intake form. Your completed Health History document is required prior to being seen. Completing this beforehand will expedite the exam process and is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to complete before you come in, we kindly ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment start time to do so in our office.
We can’t wait to meet you!

No. We are here to provide information and assistance in your orthodontic journey and are eager to be here for you when you and your family are prepared. If you decide to start at a later time, we can assist you in digital contract signing. And since we take full records at each consultation, we will have everything we need to start your treatment.
Our treatment coordinator will advise you on next steps that may be specific to your case, as well as email you a financial presentation from Acceptx Pro, which you can review from home, show your family and review finances so that you have time and privacy to make your decision. Feel free to call, text or email the treatment coordinator with any questions.
On average we like to allow up to 60 minutes to gather all of our information and answer any questions you may have.
Yes. We are here to offer expert advice at no cost or obligation.
It’s similar to an in-person consultation, except you have the convenience and safety of getting all the information you need about your treatment without coming in. You’ll take a few photos of your teeth, email them to us (instructions here) and our treatment coordinator will reach out to coordinate a video chat or phone call. In some cases we will need additional records, such as x-rays to fully diagnose, but we can provide ballpark figures. Once you agree to treatment your next step would be to come in.
You will first be in communication with our front office staff, completing all paperwork and collecting any remaining data from you, then you will see one of our expert orthodontic assistants for your scan. Once your orthodontic records are complete you will meet our treatment coordinator who will educate you on your teeth and different treatment options, then you will meet Dr. Courtney, or her associate, Dr. Michelle to complete your orthodontic consultation.
No. Your dentist takes bite-wing and periapical x-rays that are close up and can detect decay. We take a panoramic x-ray, which is one big view of your whole jaw so we can see root length and placement, impacted teeth, infections or tumors. We also take a cephalometric x-ray which is a side profile view of your jaw in order to diagnose jaw discrepancies and how to
treat them.
