Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that corrects teeth and jaws that are positioned improperly. Crooked teeth and teeth that do not fit together correctly are harder to keep clean, are at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease, and cause extra stress on the chewing muscles that can lead to headaches, TMJ syndrome and neck, shoulder and back pain. Teeth that are crooked or not in the right place can also detract from one’s appearance.
Beautiful, straight teeth blend in to your face and are associated with numerous positive qualities. Nowadays, thanks to state-of-the-art orthodontic techniques, esthetically pleasing teeth are available to everybody.
Dr. Courtney Ray Mittelmark field of specialisation is orthodontic treatment for children, teenagers, and also adults, using modern methods and nearly invisible orthodontic appliances.
Orthodontics for Adults
Orthodontic treatment is not just for kids! Your teeth can be straightened and your bite can be improved at any age. Invisalign, clear braces or metal braces are all great options for adults. We offer accelerated treatment options to make your treatment as efficient, comfortable and convenient as possible. It is never too late to improve your greatest asset– your smile!
Invisible Orthodontics
Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic aligners to straighten teeth, eliminating the need for brackets and wires. They are virtually undetectable! You can remove your aligners to eat, brush and floss. Otherwise, aligners must be worn 20-22hrs per day to achieve the most predictable results. Clear braces are also a great esthetic option. Damon Clear brackets are completely translucent and this passive self-ligating system provides an efficient and attractive treatment alternative.
Orthodontics for Kids
Dr. Courtney and the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommend that a child’s initial orthodontic exam should be at age 7. Treatment may not be needed at this early age, but it is a good idea to get a free consultation to check on growth and development and determine the most advantageous time to begin treatment.
